Your Restaurant Website is not a Robot Butler

Let’s be honest here, no matter how good your website is, or how active you are in social media, it won’t make up for you serving bad food, and providing crappy customer service. Your website, and your online marketing are simply tools that you use, and how you use them WILL help grow your business, as long as you actually care about your customers, and are willing to put even a little bit of time into making sure they have the best experience possible.

Your restaurant website, internet restaurant marketing, and social media presence is not…

1) A robot butler. It’s not like Jarvis in the Iron Man movies either. It’s not going to respond to complaints on Yelp, answer questions on Twitter or Facebook. It’s not going to ask people what kind of time they had, and work to ensure that their experiences in your restaurant were top notch. If you expect this stuff to just happen, then your customers will disengage, or worse, engage in a negative manner. You need to use the tools provided to engage and assist your customers online, or they’ll be hit with a wall of silence that they’ll interpret as apathy, or worse.

2) A brand evangelist. You can establish your restaurant, and your brand, online in various ways, but that’s just your holy book, as it were. YOU need to be out there and getting your restaurant into the minds of your customers, using the tools provided. To a certain degree your website alone will help convince customers to try (or not to try) your restaurant, but if you’re there, in view, engaging the world, engaging people, it makes it feel much more personal and social, which makes your customers comfortable.

3) A miracle worker. If you’re expecting to put up a website, and a Facebook page and suddenly see some sort of massive response, then you’re going to be disappointed. Particularly if you fall victim to thinking you have a Robot Butler and a Brand Evangelist already working for you on your restaurant website and online marketing. I’ve had people get angry that after a month they don’t have thousands of friends and followers, even though they’ve done essentially nothing with the tools provided for them. Even if you DO put the time in, it’s a slow process. It’s a long term one that you can reap huge rewards from, as long as you stick with it, and don’t give up.

We help you with all those three areas, but only if you WANT help. We recommend that YOU are the one engaged in your own social media and content marketing, but we can help guide you in that regard, or if you simply don’t have the time, you can hire us for an additional fee to run your online content for you. We also provide free with every signup, a customized 24 week internet marketing plan to get you off the ground with your restaurant website, and get your online presence kick started.
